Doctors' watches are once again popular although usually with quartz movements. Zeno can now offer two limited editions with mechanical movements due to the discovery of a small cache of vintage FHF movements. Model 3548Doc-h3 is a limited edition of 250 pieces and production of the 3548-h3 is limited to just 50 pieces. I have only 5 pieces of the 3548-h3. Case Both models have a slightly "waisted" polished stainless steel case with sculpted concave lugs and a view back secured by 4 screws. Sapphire front crystal is standard. The dials have small panels of textured geometric patterns and are printed in the deco style. Dimensions The case is 27mm across by 33.3mm high, 43.2mm high including the lugs and 8.7mm thick. Lug spacing is 20mm. Movement Vintage FHF hand winding movement, variants of the calibre 138 with 17 jewels . The movements are new old stock and have been serviced during manufacture. Zeno has never been afraid to borrow classic designs from the past and here's another one :-). I'm personally a great fan of these old designs and this one is well executed. Model 3043. There's also a pink gold plated version of this model, pictures later. Case Polished steel or pink gold plated case with a solid back secured by 4 screws. Lovely silver deco-style dial with luminous hands and numbers. Water resistant to 30 metres/100 feet. Dimensions 25.5mm across, measured at the "bulge" but excluding the crown, 40mm lug tip to lug tip and 8.4mm thick. Lug spacing is 19 mm. Movement FHF 17 jewel hand winding, calibre 138.001. Not exactly rectangular but somewhere between a rectangular and a tonneau shape, this is a most attractive watch, available with either black or white dial. Case The stainless steel case has a brushed finish to the top and polished sides fitted with a solid pressure-fit back. The dial has large luminous Arabic numbers at the cardinal points and luminous baton markers for all other hours except 3, where there is a date widow. The leaf shaped hands are luminous filled and the centre sweep seconds hand has an arrow tip. Dimensions 37mm across (excluding crown) by 47.75mm lug tip to lug tip and 12.4mm thick. Fitted with a solid link steel bracelet with alternate brushed and polished links. The clasp is a concealed butterfly clasp. Movement ETA 25 jewel automatic, calibre 2824-2. Although not an official limited edition, Zeno has only 300 of these movements and just 50 of them with gilded movements. The one offered here (I have 5 of them) has the gilded movement. For all the world this looks to me just like an Explorer 1, even down to the size. This model, with the Miyota movement, is now discontinued and when my existing stocks are sold, there will be no more. Case Solid stainless steel screw back case with polished sides and bezel, brushed finish lugs and bracelet. Black dial with 3, 6 and 9 Arabic numerals, intermediate indices and a BIG triangle marker at 12. The numerals and markers are BRIGHT! Screw down crown and rated water resistant to 5 ATM/50 metres/165 feet. Dimensions 35 mm Ø, 45 mm lug to lug and 13.5 mm thick to the top of the semi-domed hardened acrylic crystal.
